Stacy Mootoo is a multidisciplinary artist from Trinidad, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Working primarily in paper sculpture, she transforms a humble material into striking dimensional works that explore Black feminine iconography and pop culture.

Her practice is defined by a restrained monochromatic or dichromatic palette, a deliberate choice that heightens focus on form, shadow, and nuance. Across paper sculpture, digital art, etching, and ink drawing, her work serves as a cultural anchor celebrating icons and movements that have shaped the Black experience.

Her work has been exhibited at the African American Art and Cultural Complex, the San Francisco Women Artists Gallery, and the Chinese Historical Society of America, among others. In 2023, she was honored with the AOTAD Artistic Achievement Award.
